Each year, hundreds of thousands of festival tents are abandoned & sent to landfill. We wanted to do something about this. And so, we created Envirotent. EnviroTent is a 100% recyclable, cardboard tent designed to reduce plastic waste from festivals.
When I was in sixth form, we were given the opportunity to take part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme. I had always been keen to start a business so I jumped at the opportunity. I was voted in as the Managing Director and worked with 16 of my classmates. After weeks of decided what business to create, we discovered how damaging ordinary festival tents are to our planet, and that's when the business was born! We decided to create cardboard tents!
We worked really hard on our pitches and in our interviews which paid off when we won the YE Company Programme 2020! Winning was a huge achievement and we were excited to represent the UK at the European finals. Unfortunately, we weren't as successful in the European finals, however I did win a Leadership Award. The entire experience was fantastic and it really fuelled my drive and passion to make EnviroTent a success.
Winning the UK finals brought me a whole host of new opportunities! From taking part in webinars with former PM Gordon Brown, podcasts, panel discussions, interviews with Ben Francis, CEO of GymShark and Steph McGovern.
After winning the UK Company Finals, I knew I didn't want this to be the end for me. Running a business and working on creating something new gave me a great sense of purpose and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So, I found 2 incredible mentors who wanted to help, and then pitched my business to EPIC Youth. They loved EnviroTent and allowed me to join the programme where I recieve continued support.
